Capital improvements
In 2023 , Maine golf facilities invested nearly $ 18 million in capital improvements for facility enhancements , including renovations to greens , fairways , bunkers , infrastructure , and structures , as well as purchase of equipment . Large-scale capital projects were limited in number but included the ongoing $ 60MM + multi-year enhancement of Boothbay Harbor Country Club , which continued with the opening of a new spa ($ 3.0MM in 2023 ) 5 .
NGF research found that 47 % of Maine golf facilities began or continued capital projects in 2023 ( defined as new construction or major renovation to the course and / or related facilities ) that were not funded directly from operating expenses .
