Le Arti decorative sono avvezze
alla produzione di oggetti, in genere facilmente
trasportabili, destinati a un uso reale,
con un largo margine di superfluo e di lussuosa
inutilità, creati per l’uso e per il godimento
estetico. Attraverso il disegno, giocano
su ripetuti moduli o abbinamenti di colore
sia a imitare superfici o materiali particolari,
sia a contribuire all’arredo e alla decorazione
di un oggetto o di un ambiente.
Talvolta la loro realizzazione sconfina
nell’hobbistica, talaltra si avvicina ai più elevati
gradi dell’arte e del gusto, quasi a dimostrare
che in realtà, oltre a queste definizioni
e partizioni di ambito tecnico,
l’Arte supera le barriere di qualunque recinto.
Decorative arts are used to make objects,
in general easily movable and destined
for actual use but with a large margin
of superfluous and luxurious non-utility,
created for aesthetic use and enjoyment.
Through design, playing on repeated modules
or colour combinations either
to imitate surfaces or particular materials
or to contribute to the embellishment
or decoration of an object or room.
Sometimes creating such objects moves into
hobby territory, at others it approaches higher
levels of art and taste, almost as if to show
that, whatever the definitions and technical
distinctions, art overcomes the barriers
of any fixed boundary.
