Spend two mornings learning about the college application process in this bootcamp created for Mahtomedi High School ( MHS ) juniors ( class of 2024 ). Leave with a thorough understanding of the college application and financial aid process , what to expect , how / when to complete each step , and what resources are available at MHS . Led by a Mahtomedi High School Counselor , but also hear from college admission reps and work with English teachers on essays . Take away a personalized list of potential colleges including reach , match , and “ safety ” schools , a completed Common Application , a college essay draft , and a completed resume for use when requesting letters of recommendation , scholarship apps , etc . Mahtomedi Community Education partners with Advantage Educational Programs to provide students the option of preparing for the ACT exam in three different ways .
In-School ACT Preparatory Course
The course includes diagnostic testing , instruction in time management , overcoming test anxiety , science reasoning , English strategies and review , essay writing , reading comprehension , and math strategies . Students enrolled in these classes not only benefit from personal instruction but also free access to the online course . Virtual ACT Preparatory Course
This course is an excellent alternative for any student unable to attend in-school class , but still prefers the interaction with the Advantage instructors . Student Driver Education
Learn defensive and distraction-free driving . Mahtomedi Community Education partners with Teens Driving School Inc . to offer students 14-years or older 30 hours of Minnesota State Approved classroom instruction . Teens Inc . has an A + rating with the Better Business Bureau . The curriculum includes education about the financial impact of poor driving , at-fault accidents , liability , and more to illustrate to young drivers the consequences they could face when operating a vehicle .
