Early Childhood Screening

IS YOUR CHILD 3 ? Have they had Early Childhood Screening ?

A child can be screened any time after 3 , but it is recommended that screening takes place before their 4th birthday . Minnesota law requires Early Childhood Screening before a child can enter kindergarten in a public school . This free screening checks hearing and vision , weight and height , health history , immunizations , speech and language , general development and motor skills . Screening is NOT a readiness test for kindergarten . Screening is fun for children and provides caregivers information about child development . If health or developmental concerns are identified , resources are available on site .

School Census

Are you interested in receiving Early Childhood Family Education ( ECFE ) programs and early childhood screening information as well as other school district announcements ? Completing the school census ensures :

• Receiving the ECFE program information

• Receiving the school district publications including the Globe and Community Education Brochure

• Notification regarding early childhood screening when you are 3-4 years of age .

• Wildwood Elementary will be expecting your child when it is time for a kindergarten round up .
