Black Friday Craze

During the American Thanksgiving weekend, numerous Canadians flocked down to our southern neighbour and raced to the shopping centres in order to chase Black Friday deals.

Even teeangers, some who had a Pro-D day on Black Friday, followed the crowds south of the border to shop the “incredibly amazing deals”. While stores in Canada did not display a chaos comparable to that of the States, normal etiquette and social norms were forgotten as consumers everywhere battled it out for the sale items.

This is old news to most as a similar situation occurs almost every year. What does this say about our consumer-centric culture? Should "Black Friday"

type events that seem to encourage these types of behaviours

be abolished?
