Egham Museum Exhibition
The Museum exhibition, featuring antique prints, commemorative paraphernalia and photographs,
explored the local commemoration of Magna Carta in the twentieth century, representations of King
John on stage, in art and in print and panels exploring what Magna Carta has meant to historians,
parliamentarians and various historical figures. Particular highlights of the exhibition included Magna
Carta themed commemorative tokens struck during the 18th century treason trials of advocates for
Parliamentary reform, a pamphlet from the 1939 World’s Fair, which featured Magna Carta in the
British pavilion, and photographs, rosettes and tickets from the 1934 Runnymede Pageant.
