Magna Carta in Egham Project Report Magna-Carta-Report | Page 15

Magna Carta through Art 2015 not only marked the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta but also the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Runnymede Art Society. To mark this double celebration it was agreed that, briefed by the Museum, members of the society would create a series of paintings inspired by Magna Carta for exhibition in the summer of 2015. Over 25 paintings were created and then exhibited as part of Egham Museum’s pop- up exhibition in the United Church of Egham. 8 paintings, one for each century the anniversary marked, have now been accessioned into the Museum’s collection as part of its archive of the 2015 celebrations.
