Mermaids are one of the top most mythical creatures talked about of all time. These lovely mermen and mermaids having colorful tails and being able to breathe underwater are just the start. In ancient times they were celebrated as bringers of life and fertility. They are also said to have great powers of nature and destruction. Mermaids are presented in almost every culture across the world as beautiful women who have fish tails as the lower half of their bodies (sometimes snake tails), long hair and beautiful voice that can mesmerize or hypnotize men who hear it. Modern day view of mermaids is often mixed with sirens, who are much more aggressive and dangerous creatures.
