Letter from the President
August 26, 2013
Dear Friends & Colleagues:
I would like to welcome our vast WBO family to the 26th Congress where our fellow members from America,
Europe, South Pacific, Africa and Asia stand together with one objective - Boxing. I would like to welcome our
extended family from all corners of the globe here to celebrate this stimulating year.
New exciting events have occurred. Our Asian family has grown during the first half of this year. The Japanese
Boxing Commission warmly welcomed us to their home on the 18th of February, thus shaping the beginning of
a new and energizing exchange between us. Now, it is our honor to reciprocate by welcoming our new family
members - the JBC, their promoters, trainers, champions, contenders and officials – not only to our WBO family, but
to this congress in the beautiful city of Budapest where the Hungarians have embraced the WBO wholeheartedly.
May our liaisons be fruitful and long!
The past years have been trying economic times for many. But, life is constantly changing, evolving. With change
comes opportunity and with opportunity comes growth. We have been blessed with continuous growth, faster
or slower, nonetheless growth. Someone once said that growth is never by chance, rather the result of working
together. I firmly believe that this is the secret of our evolution. It’s what makes the impossible, possible, brings
progress, improvement, and ultimate success. So thank you for your revitalizing and invaluable support.
Let us continue to forge ahead together, keeping our ultimate goals present as we have done for many years. And
now… let’s enjoy this time together!
