DOMINO EFFECT

THE NINE STEPS THAT LEAD TO MY CHALLENGE STATEMENT

1. Employees don’t know what could considered sexual harassment

2. People that hold a higher position are insecure and feel that they must prove their masculinity by harassing women

3. The victim may not know they’re being harassed

4. The victim doesn’t want to fit the stereotype of jumping to conclusions so the continue to deal the harassment.

5. The victim realizes they are being harassed

6. They won’t speak up in fear of losing their job

7. They speak up

8. They experience victim shaming and nothing really gets resolved

9. When sexual harassment is not addressed the problem worsens and becomes more difficult to remedy as time goes on

TWO HEALTH COMPONENTS

Emotional Health~ People may often times experience sexual harassment this could potentially be traumatic for everyone involved. They could become more distant as well as emotionally unavailable, meaning they will create barriers between themselves and others in an effort to avoid emotional intimacy.

Mental Health~ Mentally these women, men, children, young adults, etc. could experience depression, suicidal thoughts or actions, and could potentially become addicted to drugs and alcohol. They aren’t in the right state of mind after something as horrific as sexual harassment.

This could become a life-long struggle for the victim, and/or the victims family depending on the severity of the harassment.
