Salamanca
Two days after school was “ out for summer ” rising eighth graders took off with several of their Saint David ’ s teachers for two weeks of cultural study and Spanish language instruction in Salamanca , Spain . Days were filled with morning classes in the language , followed by afternoon trips to a bullfighting ring and ham factory , paella and flamenco dancing lessons , football with local peers , and so much more !
Arco 2024
Arco , in Greek , means to lead , to step out . For their final art history “ Arco ” project , our eighth-grade boys participate in an academic competition which challenges them to create an original piece of art in the spirit of a modern artist . The work pays homage to the artist , but must not be a direct copy . Instead , it is a unique creation that represents the boy ’ s interpretation , message , and artistic sensibility .
