AROUND CAMPUS

Collaborations with Girls Schools

At Saint David ’ s , an all boys ’ education doesn ’ t mean all boys all the time . Opportunities for collaboration across academics , leadership , service , team building , and musical arts allow our boys to learn from and develop healthy relationships with their female peers . The winter / spring saw the following collaborations :
Eighth-grade boys explored Shakespeare ’ s Romeo and Juliet in an interdisciplinary performance-based workshop series with Marymount girls . The boys may have seemed nervous at first ; but in no time at all , uncertain quiet was replaced by the animated sharing of ideas around iambic pentameter , stage combat , masquerade , dance , and text interpretation .
Seventh graders participated in a joint Nightingale- Bamford School-Saint David ’ s leadership workshop , taught by the Weston Massachusetts ’ Cambridge School .
The spring term of the Grades 7 and 8 Theatre Arts Class culminated in , as Jonathan Hadley put it , “ a wild and wonderful production of Robin Hood and the Unnecessary Rescue .”
Our choruses collaborated with two girls ’ schools for the Lower and Upper School Concerts : the First Choir singers were joined by Sacred Heart ’ s Tweeters , and the Chamber Singers by The Nightingale- Bamford Middle School Choir .
