routes . The boys ’ eagerness and enthusiastic questions about the region brought me immense joy , knowing this experience sparked their curiosity and passion for the region . Throughout the week leading up to their Silk Road journey around Saint David ’ s , I stopped in their homerooms to assist them with their felt patches . I was amazed at how the boys took to the craft , using a needle , thread , and scissors to create various symbols that spoke to them .
As a passionate traveler to over 50 countries , who has had the privilege of living and working abroad , it has always been my dream to spark my students ’ curiosity and broaden their horizons by providing a wider lens through which they can investigate the art and perspectives of other cultures firsthand . Through language , art , and the help of a summer curriculum grant , I was able to provide our boys with a rich cross-cultural learning experience . •
