To understand the importance and all the matters regarding the LGBT community we need to understand first the very foundations of LGBT. According to Cichon, T. (2013) The Health of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People: Building a Foundation for Better Understanding. The expression 'lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community' point out to a junction of groups that are different regard to their gender, sexual orientation and/or identity. Therefore, the article of the health focuses on the community that is encased by the acronym LGBT, but what the committee wants is to enhance the importance to recognize that each group ('L', 'G', 'B', and 'T') are different populations, which has its individual worry and requirements related to health.

The LGBT community has become a trending topic nowadays, since every time more and more countries are encouraging and accepting this community. In this article you will learn how to help improve the state of the LGBT community through social norms and somethings else.

First thing’s first, how can we help the LGBT community on a daily basis? According to the LGBTQ Humanist Alliance Staff in 2013 a numerous part of the social brand against LGBT people is frequently seen and heard by the American language. Although teasing has become a common or healthy part of friendship, the use of the words in a pejorative and derogatory way push away the people to whom these words are enforced and create or build up many negative stereotypes against them. In other case, when a person calls them for example "gay" or says something related, a good answer should be "thank you" or if not don't even care about the statement. People should innovate the form they respond because actions can transform the stereotypes with your partners. Also, people should respect the LGBT community that defines their particular sex, their identify. If someone determines him as a woman, refer to that person in the appropriate genitive form, cause it helps a lot. Having this clear we know that on a daily basis we can either help the LGBT stigmas to grow stronger or we can help destroy them, while creating a sense of social awareness into our family, friends, and others.

To understand a bit better the intensity or the power of the issue, of the bullying against the LGBT community, we can take a closer look into specific cases. “A 2005 study done by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and Harris Interactive, entitled From Teasing to Torment, documented the prevalence and nature of bullying and harassment in schools, with a focus on the targeting of self-identified LGBTQ youth. This study found that, after appearance, sexual orientation or perceived sexual orientation is the most common reason students get bullied. In fact, one third of teens in the study reported being frequently harassed for this reason. The study also shows that this harassment often crosses the line from verbal to physical. LGBTQ students are over three times more likely than non-LGBTQ students to report that they feel unsafe at school (20% vs. 6%).”

Now, that we know that the problem or the problematic is frequent, strong and very upsetting we encourage you to take action against it by not staying quiet. Remember that accepting and encouraging LGBT rights does not affect your life! Imagine the many reasons why this would be a good change in society. According to Alex King, Most adoption agencies discriminate against gay couples and make it incredibly difficult for them to adopt children. Many agencies will only release children to "married" couples, therefore rejecting stable, loving, homosexual parents. By legalizing gay marriage in ALL states, adoption agencies will be forced to grant the same respect and right to homosexual couples. Gay marriage will increase the chances for thousands of foster children to gain loving parents and families. Also, One of the main reasons why teenagers are commit suicide are due to the child being bullied at their school as a result of his/her sexual orientation. The same acceptance that will come about due to legalizing gay marriage will show teens that homosexuality is accepted and respected in society. We need to explain to younger generations that being different is not a social disability, so that they will never feel the need to take their own lives because they are gay”. So, it’s time to take action, and help to improve the society.
