EL SALVADOR
El Salvador is a small country located in Central America,
whose capital is San Salvador. In the past, it used to be an agricultural
country that depended on coffee exports. However, the service sector
became the main part of the economy by the end of the 20th century.
El Salvador is bordered by Honduras, Guatemala, and the Pacific
Ocean. It is the only country in Central America that does not have a
Caribbean coast. All of the country is on op of the Central American
volcanic axis, so there are many volcanoes and even earthquakes. The
country is very densely populated and filled with culture, beaches, and
fun! Inside the country, the beaches, lakes, and volcanoes are the most
popular locations for chilling and laying back. They are visited by tour-
ists and local citizens; thus, there are many houses and hotels inside of
these wonderful locations. Its beautiful, balmy weather is just right, it is
pleasant during the day and rainy at night. There are two seasons in El
Salvador, winter and summer. Both are beautiful and pleasant, the only
difference is that winter is more rainy and cool.

Explore an Ancient
Mayan Site
Although El Salvador doesn’t have
the famed Mayan sites of the Yu-
catán, Guatemala, or Honduras, the
sites here are still fascinating and
beautiful places to explore. Chalchua-
pa is the biggest and most interesting
pyramid.
Eat a Pupusa
You can’t leave El Salvador without
eating a pupusa, and you’d have to
try pretty hard to avoid them. Pupu-
sas are served everywhere from fine
dining establishments to street carts,
and you’ll find a pupusa stand in
every town.
Explore a Colonial Town
There is a major earthquake about
every 20 years in El Salvador, which
means that most of the original
colonial architecture in the country
has been destroyed. There’s one town
however, that has so far been spared
from destruction: Suchitoto.
