•  When we look at the human body’s ability to reproduce, we see a marvelous mechanism too complex for simple explanation. But humans have always had the tendency to over-use it or are simply not interested in reproducing at a certain time, thus leading to the creation of contraceptives. Such technology was non-existent in the past and required millions of tests and research as well as dedicated scientists in charge of developing ways to overpass the reproductive system and evade reproduction. We will touch on the most important and ground breaking methods as well as complete failures and the science behind them. •  •  When talking about contraceptives there are two obvious differences, which include male-contraceptives and femalecontraceptives. Arguably the more simple ones belong to the male side, with almost no variation on the intended method. Male contraceptives either block the semen from entering the vagina or eradicate the penis’ ability to produce semen. Of all the male contraceptives the most effective would be “sterilization” which altogether eliminates the possibility of reproduction BUT does not prevent the contraction of STD’s. In the case of young males not looking to be permanently eliminated from reproduction and only looking for sexual intercourse a condom is more suitable, plus it holds the ability to prevent contact with all vaginal fluids thus preventing STD’s.
