It doesn't sound like Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively will be reuniting on the big screen anytime soon.
It's not that they don't want to.
"I would absolutely love to do that, but you know, it's a different age now," Reynolds told me while promoting his new thriller Self/less (in theaters July 10). "It's a little harder these days than it was back in the day when a couple could do multiple films together."
Reynolds and Lively met when they co-starred in 2011's Green Lantern.
"There's so much on social media and so much that we know about everybody now," Reynolds said. "You could do it if there was a little bit of a mystery there. That's a tough thing to pull off now. It's a tough thing for people to not see the personality as opposed to seeing the character."
Besides, Reynolds said, their most important project these days is baby daughter James. "We're working together on a family. Does that count?" he quipped, adding, "It's busy, but no one's complaining, that's for sure. We're lucky to get to breathe the rare air of working actors. We're never apart for more than a week or so, so it's not terrible."
As for James inheriting their acting genes, Reynolds cracked, "We'll see, but she can certainly crap in her diaper in a pretty entertaining way."
