In the future, we will be surrounded by technology. It already surrounds us, and as it continues to evolve, it will have a greater impact on our lives.
Technology is becoming less humanistic, as genuine interaction becomes less important in daily life. In a quote from ‘Technology Should Enhance, Not Replace Human Interaction’ from Brookings.edu: “The ultra-social animal has come to face non-social technology that seems to replace any need human interaction.” I agree with that statement because that is what our future could become. An example of this is from the Terminator movie franchise. In the movie, the Super Computer ‘Skynet’ takes over technology, then nukes all of humanity.
This is a frightening theory of technology’s own power and influence, if we are not responsible or careful.
The movie masterpiece of The Matrix, is another perfect example of how technology influences reality. The Matrix perfectly defines and describes how technology has taken over the world and enslaved humanity, forcing people to live in a Dystopian virtual reality. where everything is controlled by machines. It also shows that some people are willing to defend the Matrix, such as Agent Smith. In the movie, Agent Smith is an agent who destroys threats and brings stability to the system of The Matrix.

I am assured that we will not make repetitive mistakes around technology.
Things are becoming easier due to the advancements in technology. However, I don’t want it to get to the point that technology does too much for us, therefore cheapening our lives. We need to strike a fine balance between technology helping us and technology assisting us too much in our daily lives.
How does technology make things simple?
With each new step in technology, it becomes easier to do things with less effort, such as using Siri to order a coffee. Apple is an example of a technology that keeps things simple, secure, and clean, in computer development.
I worry that overuse of technology may result in a loss of independence, a loss of confidence and an overall loss of humanity and the ability to take initiative in our own independence and decision making.

What I see is that Apple and Google will create a power of influence of our lives and interactions in the future. In fact, we are seeing this future technology all around us, but it will still take years or decades before it all matures. It’s already possible to use Siri to order a coffee. We are beginning to see big, full-screen phones, and augmented reality is becoming more mainstream. Virtual reality is actually a thing. Virtual Reality is an immersive form of reality. Augmented Reality is an example of how technology has defined our interactions and environment.
For a time, Virtual Reality was stuff of the imagination of 1980s films and futuristic conspiracy. As mentioned before, The Matrix largely influenced public perception of future development. An interesting quote can be seen from VRFocus.com, where they spoke on this History Of Virtual Reality: “ For a number of years the idea of VR was something of a laughing stock, a tech industry punchline. Arguably that changed at the brink of the new millennium – not through any technological leap, but when the film The Matrix was released. Featuring protagonist Neo who lives in a completely virtual world, the movie had a huge impact on viewers who looked forward to such a possibility in the future. The idea of VR breathed again.”
