FRACTALS

BY ASHTON

My name’s Ashton, I am 12 years old and in grade 7 and I’m doing fractals on the magazine. Fractals are an infinitely repeating pattern based on math and I’m doing them because making them is just fun. Basically you move around triangles and give them modifiers and variables in order to warp the gravity of the shape and shape the image.

This time we’re doing a jellyfish type thing, I call it a Blooper, on the cover. It’s a jellyfish thing I named after the Mario enemy squid which is named after the cartoon water dripping sound “BLOOP”.

Sometimes I’m messing around and make a mistake but it turns out to look better than what I was going for. The most fractals I’ve ever made in one sitting is 8, they’re usually mistakes that look awesome.
