AAFS Movie Project: A Year in Review

1.What is your favourite movie

My favourite movie, which can be considered the greatest film of all time, is Back to the Future.

2.What got you into making movies?

I've wanted to make movies ever since I was a kid, but it wasn't until I was in the eighth grade and my adolescent creativity was at its peak that it really became a reality for me.

I started concocting ideas, plots, and story suggestions at a wild rate. Then, in high school, I started producing my own short films and actually pursuing the idea as a viable career choice.

3.What is your favourite movie project and why?

Honestly, this is the hardest question. It would be a cop out for me to say "all of them". I think the original SharkCop was the beginning of something amazing.

We've continued to have the character in our films, and the franchise is continuing to this day.

4.What is your favourite part of making movies?

The teamwork and collective achievement that comes from working together. Having a mass of people come together with a common goal to create and share their imagination is beautiful.

5.What was your first movie project?

My first Movie Project was called 'The Hero Initiative", which was a spoof of The X-Men and other superhero movies. The film was never completed, and most of the footage has been lost in the ether of computer space, so we will unfortunately never see a completed version of it.

However, my first fully successful Movie Project was AMP VI, which was when we produced "Steve and Larry", "Vile of Terror", and "Writing in a Nutshell."

6.Why did you join the Movie Project?

I was working for another organization in the city, and Dean had come in to do a talk about AAFS. I loved the concept and applied. It was helpful that I knew Liam McGinnis beforehand, as my name had come up in conversation in the office and Liam was there. Liam gave me a raving recommendation, and when I came in for the interview it was like they knew me already. I joined AAFS and was asked to run Movie Project due to my interest in the medium and passion for the work. I've been running the program for the past six years.
