Britains Dane Coming home

Breathing the fresh air of Great Britain again is much appreciated in this very moment. The thirty-eight year old professor in theological music studies Helena Griffiths return to Sheffield seem surreal.

'I miss this place a lot. Thirteen years since i left all of this I used to call my home. My mother and father were not thrilled. Of course not when their daughter made the biggest desicion of her life'

At the age of twenty-five - A young Helena made her way into the Rythmic Institute of Copenhagen.

'I was so determinded at that point of my life. My one and only dream were to be a solo artist and perform far and wide'

Half a year into the solo performance class she got pregnant and decided to keep her child. The now twelve year old Tristan.

'Tristan is my life. I knew that I would risk my solo career if I kept him with me. But I did and it's the best choice I've ever made. But at the same time I cried my eyes and young heat out. My dream - crushed into tiny pieces'

She changes her plan and finish up as professor in theological music studies. She lives in Odense, Denmark with her son and husband Michael.

'I am very happy. Even though i didn't get the exact career that I wanted it to be - i wouldn't wish for anything else now'

Helena is traveling between Odense and Aeroe, a small danish island.

She used her education to help other new young talented people to get recognition and to be appreciated.

'It's very hard to break through as a young act in Denmark. And i didn't know that when I moved. But now I definitely see it through the young acts I've been working with in time'

With the fact of the danish talent industry in mind she made another decision very important to her. The choice of giving all her experience and love to one artist and not multiple ones.

'I got a wonderful girl and her band. I'm so proud to experience someone else living my dream. And they're doing it way better than I could've ever done it'

'I can be so proud and nervous at the same time'

'It's completely insane how much I love her. Johanna is very special to me. I remember the first meeting we all had'

Gathered around a table along with producers and songwriters she questioned the maturity level of the young artist. In Helena's opinion eighteen is quite a young age for a girl to go through the things she wanted to do as a twenty-five year old.

'This young teenager - She made me cry. I remembered myself being the one with the exact same dream'

She quits as coach for teenagers in school of music near Odense. Just to focus on her special project - the young nineteen year old songwriter Johanna Martinez.

'There's something different about her. What female artist pulls an Ellie Goulding at people? You don't expect that kind of voice to come out of that body. And especially not to just show off her guitar skills during a performance - I am proud'
