NAACP Richmond—

RICHMOND, KY.— The NAACP Richmond-Madison County Branch continues to strengthen its presence throughout Madison County through advocacy, education, civic engagement and community service.
Led by Branch President Aaron Milton, the organization is focused on ensuring the NAACP remains a visible and accessible resource for residents throughout Richmond, Berea and Madison County.
“ The NAACP has always been about people coming together to create meaningful change,” Milton said.“ Our goal is to make sure people know there is a place for them in this organization and an opportunity to help strengthen our community.”
Membership growth remains a priority. With approximately 110 members, the branch is working to expand participation while maintaining strong membership retention. Its message,“ Anywhere there is a person, there is a membership opportunity,” encourages members to connect with residents beyond traditional meetings.
Education and youth recognition also remain central to the branch’ s mission. Through scholarship initiatives, including the Anna Kadlec Scholarship, the branch celebrates area students and encourages the next generation of leaders.
The branch continues to promote Black history and education through community programs and events, including Juneteenth celebrations and educational presentations that encourage meaningful conversations about history and its continued relevance today.
Civic engagement is another important focus. The branch works to encourage voter registration, education and participation while providing opportunities for residents to become better informed about issues affecting their communities.
Looking ahead, the Richmond-Madison County Branch plans to expand partnerships, increase membership and create additional opportunities for community involvement.
The branch meets on the first Thursday of each month at 6 p. m. and welcomes those interested in learning more about its mission and becoming involved.
Community progress requires community participation.
