‘ Tis the season to be just a little bit stressed .
For many , the holidays can be a time of great anxiety and strife .
In Madison County , it already feels like winter is here with the sudden drop in temperatures and brief spurts of snow .
While we haven ’ t had any significant snowfall yet , it is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas .
Many have already begun decorating their houses and yards with lights and trees , while others may be dreading the season ahead .
As we continue to move on from the height of the pandemic , this season will include more gatherings , holiday parties , and perhaps , a bit more stress .
Inflation , high gas prices , continued issues with supply chain shortages , and more social responsibilities can make even the merriest of holiday revelers a little more Scrooge-like . If so , then this holiday issue was designed with you in mind . When The Register staff sat down to plan this holiday issue of the Madison Magazine one topic was the feeling of being overwhelmed by the countdown to Christmas . So , we decided to reach out to some experts for advice . In doing so , we collected lots of tips and tricks to help make this year ’ s holiday season a little more merry . Included in this issue are interviews with experts in home organizing , decorating , baking , and money management , who shared their secrets to navigating the holiday season with success .
Organizer Tara Stewart shares how to get your home ready for the holidays and what to do with the stuff left over , while also giving back to your community .
Decorator Linda Brumagen gives you some tips and tricks to save money on gift wrapping and decorating .
Baker Kathy Estes will take you through her hacks on how to bake and decorate beautiful cookies to wow your guests and families . They even make great gifts !
Kimberly Palmer shares how to make sure you are getting the most bang for your buck while shopping your Christmas Lists .
In our Looking Back section , we celebrate local artist Clint Whitesel , whose beautiful storefront paintings brought joy to many in Richmond around the holidays . Whitesel ’ s work shows what magic just a little bit of paint and imagination can bring .
We hope this magazine can help you hack your holidays this season and celebrate with less stress and more joy .
Happy Holidays !
