If you’re itching to enjoy some spring weather,
Richmond and Berea City Parks offer playgrounds,
skate parks, walking trails, kayaking, miniature
golf and fishing, some for free and some for a small
fee.
Berea is home to hiking opportunities galore at
the Pinnacles, Brushy Fork and Anglin Falls. The
Berea College Forestry Outreach Center offers
Wednesday Walkers for those who might take a
slower, no-pressure hike, and it’s pet-friendly, too.
“We base the walk off of who comes, whether
it’s someone with a stroller who needs to walk on
a paved trail or if we need to go slow,” said Kayla
Zagray, an Americorps worker at the Center.
Aside from the walks, everything the Center does
is free, open to the public and always kid friendly,
notes Zagray. One new event is Stellar Mondays,
a stargazing event using large telescopes, led by a
local astronomer.
Walking and window shopping are easy and free
in Berea’s Olde Town and College Square, where
artists are producing their work in their owns
shops at the Artisan Village.
Whether family focused, or a much-needed night
out, there’s more than enough to do in Madison
County without breaking your budget.
