Hyster-Yale Years in current job: 22 Years in your industry: 26 Your title: Richmond Athletic Club co-owner Years in current job: 4 Years in your industry: 6 What’s the biggest challenge in your industry? In advanced manufacturing, available workforce is an ongoing issue faced by industries alike.  In my 26 years of working in this industry, I have found that one of the biggest challenges we face is balancing all of the variables, we as HR professionals have to manage, to keep our labor force at maximum capacity.  External pressures like the employment rate and economy certainly drive our ability to attract and retain talent at all levels of the organization.  If things are going well or poorly we inherently experience attrition in our industry, so we work to engage with our employees and create opportunities for them in the workplace to feel empowered and fulfilled in their roles.  In addition, recruitment into the manufacturing industry can be difficult, especially for younger generations.  This will be a big issue many HR professionals will face in the coming years as we see more of the labor force entering retirement age.  Working for a company that is focused on delivering innovative products, allows us to leverage that strength to recruit talent more effectively. What’s the biggest challenge in your industry? The biggest challenge in the gym/fitness industry is trying to stay in tune with how the industry is constantly changing. Fads come and go, but the basic fundamentals of fitness and weight loss stay the same. Richmond Athletic Club is a trend setter in the health club industry in Richmond, KY. We are always striving to stay steps ahead of the game with the latest equipment. We have added over forty pieces of equipment to our facility since July 2016. We are committed to reinvesting into the facility that our members call their gym home. We take pride in having pieces of equipment that are not only unique to RAC, but the surrounding areas as well. What’s the best part of working in Madison County? The people! Richmond is such a unique little town. There’s so much diversity among our citizens. We have a tight knit community. Our members are what we call RAC Fam. It is a family atmosphere where you are noticed when you haven’t been in. Everyone is treated with respect and genuinely cared for. Your title: Owner, A&K Kennels Years in current job: 19 What’s the biggest challenge in your industry? The greatest challenge to me in this industry is the health and well being of dogs in your care. Our goal has been to be diligent in using techniques that have been proven to be effective in reducing the risk of illness or injury of dogs for the past 19 years. What’s the best part of working in Madison County? Being born and raised here. Then getting married and raising a family and having the opportunity to be successful in serving the community. Anything else you’d like to add? I want to give thanks to people that made it possible. Family, teachers, clients and most of all god. I would also like to say I’ve been in the furniture restoration business here for 36 years — Moberly Refinishing and Woodworks. I also want to give total thanks to the community.
