They say you die twice.
The first is when you stop breathing, and the second is the last time somebody says your name.
“ And so I think it’ s very important to remember people that made a difference and made our community better,” Tourism Director Lori Tatum said.“ And that is something that we’ ve really strived to do.” Keeping Richmond’ s history alive and honoring the past is both a necessity and a labor of love.
“ This is my home where
I was born and raised,” Tatum said with passion.“ So I love when people pull off the interstate, they can be downtown in two miles. And what I love to hear from people is, this town is so beautiful, it’ s gorgeous, I love the architecture, I love the history. And then I get to talk to them and make them fall in love with Richmond.”
This year is the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. Tatum said that there are a lot of great stories about the founding of the country right here in Madison County.
