SHRED DAY
The City of Richmond is preparing for its annual Spring Shred Day, scheduled for April 24, 2026, from 3 p. m. to 5 p. m. at the Richmond Recycling Center, located at 550 Recycle Drive. The event provides residents with a secure and convenient opportunity to dispose of sensitive documents and paperwork.
According to Kelley Mc- Bride, Public Information Offi- cer for the city, Shred Day has seen increasing participation over the years, with this year not looking to slow down on the growth in participation. The event features a drive-through setup, allowing residents to quickly drop off their documents without leaving their vehicles. Attendees can opt to stay in their cars or watch their documents being shredded on a monitor at the side of the truck. The process emphasizes security and privacy, ensuring sensitive information is thoroughly destroyed.
In addition to Shred Day, the Richmond Recycling Center offers extended services. Its drop-off area remains open 24 / 7 to the public, welcoming residents from surrounding counties to recycle paper, cardboard, and other materials. The center’ s regular business hours are Monday through Friday, from 7 a. m. to 3 p. m.
Recent enhancements at the recycling facility include the installation of new, user-friendly doors, which have been well received by the community. These upgrades aim to make recycling more accessible and effi cient for all users.
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for April 24 and take advantage of this free service. There will be a future Shred Day in October 2026. For more information,
the city recommends visiting the Richmond Community Information Facebook page, where updates and inquiries can be addressed.
