to take care of her own patients when they were sick .
“ I wasn ’ t able to control my own schedule when working for someone else . Starting my own practice I have control over my schedule , I can get people in when they ’ re sick and need to be seen , rather than having to send people to Urgent Cares or have them see people who aren ’ t familiar with their medical problems ,” said Eidson .
Eidson said that she hopes to avoid complications , such as a patient getting antibiotics that aren ’ t safe for them because of preexisting conditions or other medications they are taking , by knowing the patients and taking care of them herself .
“ We joke about needing to put family trees in everybody ’ s charts ,” said Eidson .
Eidson also offers dermatology appointments and birth control procedures at Richmond Family Medicine Associates .
“ If you have a weird mole and you come to see me for your physical and I say ‘ Yep that ’ s a weird mole ,’ and I can take that off a week later rather than have to go and wait three months ,” said Eidson .
Similarly Naqvi said that she personally likes being a standalone physician because it gives her freedom to help her patients in the ways she thinks right .
“ You work for a hospital , they want you to refer all your testing , all your patients , to their specialists , their labs . With me it doesn ’ t matter to me where patients go , they can go wherever they want to ,” said Naqvi .
