Behind every great

restaurant is a great person . For dozens of Pizza Hut locations across Indiana and Ohio , that person is Gary Coomer .
Raised on a farm in Madison County , Coomer graduated from
Lapel High School in 1978 and went on to attend Anderson University for four years , graduating in 1982 . During his time at AU , he juggled two sports , football and track ; and two majors , management and marketing .
With two degrees to his name , Coomer interviewed with Pizza Hut Corporate in
1982 and accepted a position as assistant manager of a location in Indianapolis .
From there , Coomer quickly advanced through the ranks , moving from assistant manager to manager to area coach .
Coomer eventually became a franchise director , overseeing Indiana , southern Illinois , southern Ohio , Kentucky and northern Tennessee .
“ I did that for probably three and a half years , and the travel was tough ,” Coomer recalled . “ But I got to know franchise owners pretty well , and I started having them ask me if I wanted to jump on the franchise side .”
In 1999 , Coomer cut a deal and purchased Pizza Hut locations in Cincinnati , Madison County , Delaware County and Randolph County . Coomer and his wife , Nancy , bought more than 25 restaurants between these two deals .
“ There ' s where it all happened ,” he said . “ That ’ s where we ’ re at today . We ’ re having a really good time running restaurants in our hometown .”
