mentorship
MATTERS
There are various ways
to define what a mentor is and various
ways a mentor can impact your life. The
Host Committee of the MADE Maven
Leadership Summit, who also served as
peer mentors at the event, shared their
insight on the importance of mentorship
and how having a mentor has added
value to their lives.

“Peer to Peer mentorship is important because things
happen when we share our stories. Life has a funny
way of making us feel isolated like we’re in it alone
as if there isn’t a village where we can draw strength,
courage and wisdom from. Anyone who knows me
knows I believe in feminine power to the highest de-
gree, to me that is the true essence of sisterhood we
were MADE for.”

“The best advice I've
received from a mentor
is to live! Don't focus too
hard on the small print,
the truth of the matter is
you need to experience
life as its happening.
Be in the moment and
if things don't go right,
learn from it. Often times
you find your purpose in
the detour, not the route
you thought you should
be taking.”
“I was on a coaching call with my virtual
mentor Devon Franklin. He intensively
listened to every hurt and frustration I’d
expressed on this journey of pursuing my
dreams. I was very much scattered and
uncertain of what to do and where to
start. He simply said, “Build the trunk of
the tree. Focus on what you’re most pas-
sionate about. Live it and breathe it. Also,
think of ways to combine my purpose
and passions.” It helped me refocus and
revamp the plan.
