Made It Myself Volume 1 Issue 3 - GEEK | страница 4
Geek Week is upon us and we bring you an issue which illustrates our mind map of the word and what it means to us. We open this edition of M.I.M with a kickass collaboration between two artists who are coincidentally called Chris and Cris, an illustration of overlapping worlds against a post-apocalyptic backdrop. We have our Seoul correspondent Alex Finch with streetsnaps of trending class act styles from tough girls to school boys. We get a sneak peek into a budding creative hub in Tokyo care of Natasha Vik, while Taiwanese artist Pin Chun Kuo takes us around Taipei through her polaroid collection. We chat with Jake Lawrence (aka Timecowboy) who shares his stories with the world through art and comics, he lets us in on the thought process behind creating his webcomics. We also learn about Work – Shop, a new creative learning space fast forwarding the DIY movement in the Sydney scene. You will also see “Life on wheels with Papillionaire,” a Melbourne bicycle venture which has gained a following all over the country recently, making the urban commute fun with a slice of European design. A lot of times, knowing too much about something or spending too much time on similar things gets us branded as “geeks.” But the times have changed and we like to think that geekiness has come to share the same spotlight as passion. More than superficial and stereotypical geekiness (though we are digging the knee high socks and collared tops) we wanted to share about hobbies and preoccupations that some lovely people out there are spending their time on. If it doesn’t get you interested, at least we hope it will reignite old passions. Enjoy! From the M.I.M team.
