o one can forget the day of 16th June 2013. The people who went for
NBadrinath Yatra have never ever been thought that they would have to bear up the great cataclysm of nature. The number of innocent people who went for the Badrinath Yatra is much more than the original population of that place. Thousands of people including pujaries, tourist and localities have lost their life. More than 60 villages have swamped out completely. The whole city of Badrinath and Uttarkashi was affected by this irremediable calamity. Estimation due to hazardous & tragedy has predicted that the yatra cannot be restarted simultaneously; it will take 2-3 years from the recovery of catastrophe caused. Climatic conditions are responsible for this great financial and human life ruin. Cloud burst near and in between the mountain of Uttarkashi cause heavy rain( of approx more than 10cm / hr) which forcefully pushed the heavy rocks of surface of mountain, this resulted in a great landslide, which get combined and converted to flash flood and destroyed all the things which came across its way.
But nature only cannot be blamed alone for this great ruins course of action. Human and its activities are too equally responsible for
28 this disastrous flash flood creation. Let ' s see the few take down points-

It was raining there in Uttarakhand from 15thjune than why the people shouldn ' t be given warning of heavy rain from weather forecast department of Dehradun. If the warning were given earlier then destruction of life of some people including tourist could have been saved. The Uttarakahnd catastrophe can also be said the entirely man made tragedy because of the hydro power projects on the rivers of Uttarkashi and Badrinath, there are about 45 hydro power,& around 600 other power projects in the small streamline. These projects are planned unscientifically in great irregular way. When the water started to collect on dams on 15th June, all the swamp out gates are opened by the management there, by the danger of its safety. This resulted in the increase in the water level of flood and great prone to the tragedy which happened at 16th June in Uttarakhand. The another reason over there for the landslide is deforestation of the forest on the mountains. The soil of Uttarakhand is very brittle and sandy which due to deforestation
