B On The

For Catina Graham

A native of South Carolina, I began singing in church at an early age. My grandmother, Flossie Mae Cooper, belonged to the Church of Christ in Lamar, South Carolina and took me to church faithfully. I can recall my first rendition of“ Jesus Loves Me,” acapella. My father was in the military and his travels led us across the country and around the world, relocating from Georgia to Germany and then settling in Missouri. My musical interest peaked when I discovered my next door neighbor was a singer and her mother was a choir director. I later joined their church, Second Missionary Baptist Church in Grandview, Missouri, where I enjoyed singing in the Teens choir. After graduating from college, I returned to Grandview and rejoined, Second Missionary’ s adult choir. I had always been allotted the opportunity to grow musically and was later granted a role to direct both the Teen and Adult choirs. It seems that the scripture from Proverbs, would continue to ring true for me: A man ' s gift maketh room for him and bringeth him before great men. Proverbs 18:16. One of those great men was Randall Fears, a minister of music at one of the local churches. Through friends, we met and I later joined his group, Randall Fears and Blessed Through Christ. Being an avid writer, Randy encouraged and often complimented writing from the group. It was then that I wrote“ Live in Me,” a song that started as a prayer for my son Cooper. Traveling with this group afforded me the privilege to sing on the Bobby Jones Gospel show, as well as to attend the Stellar awards. I now stand as a proud, Christian mother of two beautiful boys, Cooper & Christian, professing that Jesus heals and His music is soothing to the soul. This CD is an outline of my spiritual walk, conversations I’ ve had with the Master about various storms and victories in my life. He breathed the lyrics into every phrase. I am thankful for the opportunity to minister to His people and pray that someone’ s spirit is lifted by listening.
