Introducing Miss Shawn Chavis, Founder/Editor in Chief of Bronze Magazine
Shawn is a NYC resident and Founder/Editor-in-Chief of Bronze Magazine, a
digital/print lifestyle & inspirational magazine. As a strong advocate for the
empowerment of women, especially women of color, Shawn created Bronze out of
concern and frustration regarding the one-dimensional images depicted of AfricanAmerican women in mainstream media. Bronze Magazine celebrates and inspires the
lifestyle of today’s African American woman while also spotlighting individuals who are
making positive achievements throughout various business industries and within their
communities.
Formerly in retail executive management, Shawn possesses both a Bachelors and an
MBA in Marketing. She has served on the advisory board and is a member of the
National Association of Women Who Influence. As a member of the National
Association of Women on the Rise, in 2011 Shawn was named as one of
NAWR's 10 Most Intriguing Women on the Rise. Also in 2011, Shawn was
featured in Women of Significance, an online magazine, as one of Women to
Watch. In addition, Shawn is featured in the upcoming book for new business
owners called Hot Chocolate for the Entrepreneurial Soul: The Ups and Downs
for Starting a Business. Shawn has a strong and continuous commitment
towards pursuing different resources that will support her mission of bringing
positive awareness to the images of African American women. Shawn’s
personal mission is to consistently pay it forward to other individuals throughout
communities and across various sectors.
