A fractal UNS delivers everything a monolithic namespace promises, plus the structural resilience that such architectures lack:
• Fault isolation. A broker failure at one level does not cascade to others. Each layer operates independently and the system degrades gracefully.
• Contained blast radius. A compromised node can only reach what it is architecturally permitted to reach. Lateral movement— the defining characteristic of modern ransomware campaigns— is constrained by design, not by policy alone.

You cannot simply chain MQTT brokers together and call it a fractal UNS. MQTT’ s QoS guarantees do not propagate reliably across more than one broker connection. Clients at the end of the chain have no way of knowing whether their data is current or stale.
