My production is a current language slam poetry version of the play. Slam poetry is becoming more and more popular these days, and what’s better than taking advantage of that turning Shakespeare into slam poetry! It would be in modern day language so that we can have a wider audience, and people would be able to understand it better. All of the characters would remain the same and interact with each other, but everything they say would be slam poetry. In the slam community we have what are called individual poems and team pieces, and this play would include both. This means the characters would speak and interact entirely in poetry. It would add rhythm and flow to the play, and would also make it a bit more upbeat.
