President ’ s Message
Neal Reilly , MCA , was elected president of MAA at the association ’ s Annual Meeting on November 16 , 2021 in Walpole , MA . The following is an excerpt from his remarks that evening .
“ For those of you who may not know me , my name is Neal Reilly , and I am excited to be elected as your president for 2022 . I started Reilly Tree and Landscape in Plainville back in 2003 . Over the past 18 years our company ’ s growth can be attributed to two things : 1 . Focusing on professional tree care AND 2 . The friendships I have developed through the years with most of you in this room . Thank you for your guidance and your mentorship !
I am confident that , with the help of the board , we will continue to lead the association with intent , vision , and focus .
During these crazy times of masks , no masks , in person versus online learning , and general uncertainty of what ’ s to come next , I believe it is best to go Back to Basics .
What is Back to Basics ? The MAA has taken great pride in being an association where the best in the tree care industry come together . As of late , that has been a challenging thing to do . Judging by the volunteer showing at the Ames Estate on Arbor Day , the education and vendor turn out at Fall Field Day at Cushing Park , and attendance here tonight , it is clear that MAA members want to get back to in-person events for both the camaraderie and the education .
As a board , our primary job is to listen to what our members want . With that in mind , we ’ re excited to announce MAA ’ s new collaboration with ArborEXPO ! The MAA will help produce this exceptional event for our industry and in turn , ArborEXPO will contribute to the MAA ’ s scholarship , research , and educational initiatives . Details are coming soon . In the meantime , we encourage all of you save the date for ArborEXPO March 31 – April 1 , 2022 in Springfield . [ Read more about ArborEXPO on page 5 ].
