The Robert Felix Memorial Scholarship Program is the oldest endowed grant program administered by TREE Fund . It was established in the original 2002 TREE Fund Declaration of Trust that launched TREE Fund as a charitable , grant-making organization . Beginning in 2022 , two $ 5000 Felix Memorial Scholarships will be available .
As MAA members know , Bob Felix ’ s dedication to the tree care industry spanned more than 30 years and was defined by his contributions to the National Arborists Association ( now the Tree Care Industry Association ). Bob served on the NAA Board of Directors and became its president in 1972 , and afterward spent 23 years as the association ’ s executive vice president . In these roles , Bob made such an impact that his legacy continues to resonate today .
The memorial scholarship endowed in Bob ’ s name is for students enrolled in an undergraduate or technical college and who are actively pursuing a career in commercial arboriculture .

Watch for UMass Survey in January

UMass , in cooperation with the MAA and ISA New England Chapter , will be conducting a survey of arboriculture and commercial urban forestry operations across New England . The purpose of this initiative is to estimate annual economic contributions made by arboriculture and commercial urban forestry operations both at the state level and across the New England region . The survey will be conducted in January 2022 .
Why should you participate ?
• This is the only survey that endeavors to collect data about arboriculture and commercial urban forestry operations throughout our region .
• Data from this survey can be used in developing grant applications to support valuable industry-related research and outreach .
• Results of surveys like this one may be used by industry leaders and lobbyists to educate legislators and other decision-makers about the importance of the arboriculture and commercial urban forestry industry .
• Findings from this survey will be published to inform readers about the importance of our industry sector .
• Universities use survey results to validate and inform teaching / research / extension initiatives .
By taking 15-minutes to complete this survey online , you will help to make sure that the arboriculture / commercial urban forestry industry is accurately represented .
