Congratulations
Welcome to the newest Massachusetts Certified Arborists who passed their certification exam in April . Well done !
April 7 and 8 were busy days for the MCA Committee as we held four exam sessions in Medfield . We congratulate the 11 new MCAs who successfully passed their exams ! We were impressed with the efforts of all the exam candidates . For those who missed the mark , the next exams are on October 6 and 7 . It is not too early to sign up for the fall exam and there is plenty of time to adequately prepare for a successful outcome .
The MCA Committee encourages all of our committed industry colleagues to prepare for and earn your MCA ! It ’ s a rigorous , well-rounded exam and typically has a passing rate of around 40 %. This high standard is why the certification is so widely respected in our industry . You may not succeed the first time – there is no shame in that , many don ’ t . However , your value as a knowledgeable professional only increases once you become an MCA .
In addition to the MCA study guide , the MCA Overview is a great resource to accompany your exam preparation . The two available webinars are not instructional . Rather , they guide you through the key points to study for each topic on the exam . 85 % of the most recent exam candidates said they found this resource very helpful . As MCAs and MAA members , we promote the best of the tree care industry and continually strengthen our knowledge in arboriculture . I hope to see many of you on August 9 at MAA ’ s climbing event and barbecue . This will be a great opportunity to expand your skills and network with colleagues .
