In Memoriam : Will Choate

A special remembrance by his good friend , Nicole Forsyth , MCA
Will Choate was not only a beloved husband , father , son , brother , grandson , nephew , cousin , son-in-law , and friend , but an extremely talented and passionate arborist , whose loss will forever be a hole in the hearts of many .
After years of serving our industry under names such as Cedar Lawn Tree Service , Will started Choate Tree and Landscaping , a highly regarded local business , which he tirelessly built with passion , knowledge , professionalism , hard work and skill .
Will graduated from Medway High School in 2008 and studied arboriculture while attending the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at UMass Amherst . On my first day at Stockbridge , I sat next to Will in Soil Science Lab . I quickly realized how passionate he was regarding the tree care industry , and plants in general . His excitement and the way he lit up while talking about trees was contagious , and we found ourselves having long conversations in the dining hall until all hours of the night , discussing and challenging each other on such topics as plant ID , plant health care , soil science , and business practices . If I had a dollar for every time Will tried to recruit me to join him in a business venture , I could retire !
RIP Will Choate 3 / 3 / 90-5 / 26 / 22
His love and devotion to the Green Industry was admirable . I have never met anyone who was so driven and approached starting and owning a company with such fervor , as Will Choate . It was almost impossible not to share the excitement with him !
Rest easy , my friend , and continue to watch over all of us hopeless tree nerds . It is people such as yourself that inspire others to keep instilling knowledge , passion , and drive into the future generations of tree care professionals .
