MCA Update
Hello MCAs and MAA members ,
Congratulations to the new MCAs from the early
April exams . We are already gearing up for the next round of exams in October 2024 . Exam seats fill up fast so get your materials and exam registration in early .
Already an MCA ? By this time of the year , it is important to have a plan for how you will be earning your 10 required credits . Fall Field Day is always a sure bet for meeting the education and safety requirements . MAA will also have credit-granting meetings in October and November . If you don ’ t plan to participate in an MAA event , check the industry calendar for events offered by UMass Extension , New England ISA or any number of allied organizations .

Z-133 Update

The most recent in-person Z-133 meeting was held on April 23-24 , 2024 in Baltimore , MD . The committee voted at that time to approve the new Z-133 Standard . There are major changes in the standard with reference to electrical work safety and the new equipment we now find in our industry .
I do think that it is important that the MAA have a voice on Z-133 committee . All the big national companies have a vote , the MAA is one of the few votes that represent the small local companies that make up our membership .
The Z133 Committee is close to concluding the current cycle , as we make ready for the updated publication , expected later this fall . The ISA will also be preparing for a new cycle and begin the process of composing a new committee .
It has been my honor to represent the MAA . I have been an MCA since 1968 and with the conclusion of my time on the Z-133 committee , I am now 100 % retired !
