President ’ s Message

Hello MAA Members ,
Hats off in celebration of a truly successful Arbor Day of Service ! Special thanks to Russell Holman , MCA , BCMA , CTSP for the outstanding job he did planning for that important day . Many trees were planted , pruned , and preserved across the state . I was at Bird Park in Walpole and was particularly proud to see such high-quality work and professionalism , as well as the camaraderie among member companies .
A highlight for me was introducing a group of students from Boston ’ s Power- CorpsBOS program to the joys of arboriculture . About ten young people from Mayor Wu ’ s “ learn and earn ” program came out from the city to help with our project . Neal Reilly , MCA and Richie Desilets enthusiastically took the group under their wing . Students learned the principles of young tree pruning , practiced how to toss a throwline , operated a bucket truck , and even role-played sales calls . “ This was the best day ever !” was a common theme from the PowerCorpsBOS students as they headed back to Boston . Many thanks to Neal , Richie and all our volunteers for creating such a positive experience for these prospective employees !
Whether you joined us in Walpole , or celebrated Arbor Day of Service in your own community , we appreciate your commitment to shining a spotlight on the importance of tree preservation and professional tree care .
Looking ahead , we ’ ve got some exciting opportunities including our Tree Climbing Workshop on July 12 . Plans for our September 27 Fall Field Day with MLP are underway , our Annual Meeting will be held on November 28 , and Electrical Hazard Awareness training and worksite safety webinars are available through the end of the year .
Enjoy your summer !
