MARCH 2019
This is going to be big!
Arbor Day Celebration • Friday, April 26,2019
For nearly 40 years, MAA members have celebrated Arbor Day on the last
Friday in April by spreading the spirit of generosity and creating awareness of
proper tree care across the Commonwealth. Whether in their own backyards,
or at larger projects throughout the state, members have volunteered and
donated professional tree care to communities and historic sites in need on
Arbor Day. The MAA’s Arbor Day of Service gives tree care professionals a
chance to have a direct impact in their local communities, and across the
state, while drawing attention to the importance of proper tree care and tree
planting.
Back by popular demand:
MAA’s Arbor Day Celebration
This year, we’re bringing back the MAA’s group
celebration. We’ve joined forces with the Trustees
of Reservations to provide much-needed tree
work at the oldest continuously operating farm in
the country – Appleton Farms in Ipswich, MA.
Appleton Farms is a big place with hundreds of
mature trees and there’s a lot of tree work to be
done. Structural pruning, removals, chipping, and
stump grinding top the list.
Plans for MAA’s Arbor Day Celebration include
a morning of volunteer work, equipment demos
and a festive midday celebration. Everyone is
invited!
We’re here to help
While all members are invited to volunteer at
Appleton Farms, we know that many members
traditionally donate their time to projects in their
local community. Now is the time to reach out
and confirm your plans.
FIFTEEN YEARS AGO: Hundreds of MAA members celebrated Arbor Day
at Appleton Farms in 2004.
However you decide to participate in Arbor Day
2019, the MAA will help promote your involve-
ment with communication resources including
planning guidelines, signs, stickers, sample news
releases, checklists, and more.
