MAA Awards Scholarships
A highlight of the annual Tree Conference, held on March 5,
2019 at UMass Amherst, was the presentation of scholarship
awards. MAA president Natascha Batchelor, MCA presented a
$2500 Gordon & Frances King Scholarship to freshman, Myles
Barnes. The H. Dennis P. Ryan Outstanding Arboriculture Stu-
dent Award – a joint award presented by the MAA and the
MTWFA – was presented to Nick Greenwood.
“Thank you for selecting me as a scholarship recipient.
This scholarship will go toward next semester’s bill and
will allow me to purchase some climbing gear. Scholarships
have helped me tremendously with lowering the cost of
coming out of school further in debt.” – Myles Barnes
“Thank you so much for recognizing me for this award.
I look forward to growing a much stronger relationship
with your organization in the year to come as a profes-
sional.” – Nicholas Greenwood
The MAA is proud to help support the next generation of tree
care professionals.
