MCA Update
Congratulations to the seven new MCAs who successfully passed the certification exam on October 8 and 9! We had a smaller group of candidates this fall, but they came exceptionally well prepared. Earning the MCA credential takes a serious commitment to studying and building your knowledge of arboriculture. It ' s great to see candidates putting in the work and achieving this important professional milestone.
The next MCA exam sessions are scheduled for April 8 and 9, 2027. If you ' re thinking about pursuing your MCA, now is a good time to start preparing. The exam covers a broad range of arboricultural knowledge, and giving yourself plenty of study time is one of the best ways to set yourself up for success. Visit MassArbor. org for information about exam preparation and registration.
A Reminder About Recertification For those who already hold the MCA credential, it ' s time to review your continuing education credits for 2026. MCAs are required to earn 10 credits annually, including at least two safety credit sand two education credits. Don ' t wait until December to find out you ' re short!
If you still need credits, MAA has several opportunities coming up this fall:
• October 21: Safety Saves( 2 safety credits available)
• October 21: MAA Dinner Meeting( 2 education credits available)
• November 18: MAA Annual Meeting( 2 education credits available)
These meetings are also a great opportunity to connect with other arborists, share experiences, and stay current on what ' s happening in our industry. Continuing education isn ' t just about maintaining your certification. It ' s about staying sharp, learning new techniques, and bringing that knowledge back to the job.
Be sure to check the Upcoming Events section on the MassArbor. org home page for additional credit-earning opportunities.
Whether you ' re working toward your MCA or maintaining the credential you ' ve already earned, keep investing in your professional development. The more we learn, the stronger our industry becomes.
