Membership Matters
Happy Fall MAA Members! Fall always feels like the start of the year to me.
In many ways, at the MAA office, it really is a fresh start! We ' re busy preparing for membership renewals and MCA recertification, updating our database, and making adjustments to our exams and systems. Fall is always a good time to reset, take stock, and look for ways to make things work a little better.
This fall, the board reviewed the MAA membership structure. They’ ve adopted a few updates for 2027 to help simplify our membership categories and better reflect the different professionals and businesses that make up MAA.
If you ' ve never given much thought to our membership categories, here ' s a quick breakdown:
Commercial Active – These are companies that provide tree care services for profit. Membership levels are based on the number of people a company employs, from solo operators to companies with hundreds of employees. Commercial Active member companies are listed in MAA ' s public Member Directory.
Affiliate – Affiliates are employees of MAA Commercial Active member companies.
Associate – These are businesses that provide goods or services to the tree care industry. Think equipment dealers, insurance providers, software companies, fertilizer distributors, and other industry suppliers.
Individual Arborist Membership( IAM) – New for 2027, this category is designed for arborists who work outside of commercial, for-profit tree care firms and industry suppliers. This includes municipal, utility, government, educational, and other institutional arborists, as well as individuals who don ' t fit into the categories above. IAM is a person-based membership, rather than a business membership, and does not include a listing in MAA ' s public Member Directory.

It’ s a Great Time to Update Your Member Record
As we look ahead to 2027, it’ s a great time to visit your MAA member record and make sure your information is up to date.
When you log in at MassArbor. org, you are brought directly to your profile page. Click EDIT PROFILE and you can make any changes you need. Remember to click SAVE.
You can add your company logo and website and update your preferred addresses. You can indicate the services your company provides. It’ s also very important that we have a working email address for you!

Post your job by going to MassArbor. org. Log in to your member account. Scroll down to MAA JOB BOARD. Job seekers, check out the listings. The board is updated frequently!
