M Pire Magazine sits down with Coach Real to do an exclusive interview. Check it out below: Q: How did you come up with the name “Coach Real”? A: The name “Coach Real” was developed from my first rap name, which was “Reality”, and the word “Coach” was added due to my personalty in life and in general. I always played the leadership role, so the streets named me “Coach”. Q: Tell us about your musical background. Is your family musically involved? A: Music has always played a huge part of my life. Since I was a child, my mother, father, brother, and uncles always listened to a wide variety of music, particularly a lot of R&B and soul from the 70s, and hip hop was just a natural progression for me. As it grew, I grew with it. Hip hop is my culture. If hip hop was a gang, I was born into it. Q: What is the one thing you admire the most about hip hop culture in NY? A: That we created hip hop! New York is the trend-setting factor in Hip Hop culture. All in all, we are the purest form of hip hop. We are hip hop culture in New York. Q: Do you play any instruments? A: no  Q: Tell us some of your favorite places you’ve performed at so far. A: My two favorite venues have been S.O.B’s and a hot 97 showcase I did. (Cont’d) 72
