BREAKING BARRIERS : advocating for inclusion and addressing audism
Navigating through the vast world of inclusion and diversity can feel like exploring a maze filled with unexpected twists and turns . But fear not ! By talking openly and sharing our experiences , we can light up the path toward understanding and growing together . Let ' s address one area , audism , to foster understanding without barriers , to promote collective learning , growth and acceptance .
What is audism ? Audism , a word not widely used is equally misunderstood . It is like a silent barrier , a form of discrimination that often goes unnoticed but can deeply affect those who experience it . It ' s the prejudice or discrimination against individuals based on their ability to hear , creating hurdles that can make them feel isolated or misunderstood . Just as we strive for inclusion and acceptance in all areas of life , it ' s essential to recognize and dismantle audism to ensure that everyone ' s voice is heard and valued . This means it ' s crucial to clearly define and understand the differences between inclusion , which embraces and accepts everyone and audism , which creates barriers based on hearing ability . By doing so , we can raise awareness and promote a culture of inclusivity that embraces diversity and ensures that no one is left behind .
At the core of who I am , there ' s a deep , heartfelt passion for making sure that every single person feels seen , heard , and valued . I believe with all my being that diversity , fairness , and a sense of belonging are not just nice-to-haves , but essential for the soul of humanity . Some call this trio of values DEI - diversity , inclusion , and equity . This passion inside me drives me to speak up for those who might not have a voice , to fight for inclusion wherever I go , and maybe , just maybe , to become a beacon of hope as a spokesperson for these values . Throughout my journey , I ' ve encountered challenges related to inclusion and audism ; experiences that have enriched my understanding and empathy for people ' s struggles .
