Malala was born on July 12, 1997 in a town called Mingora in the Swat region, northwest of Pakistan. Inspired by her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, Malalai, a Pashtun heroine.
Ziauddin, who likes to learn new things, runs a school near her parents' house.
