As a direct consequence of their attachment to technology , Alphas are challenging the status quo when it comes to knowledge . Search engines like Google put considerable resources at their fingertips from a very young age , offering ways of learning that are playful and intuitive . Generation Alpha explores these new learning codes and is more opportunistic in its relationship with knowledge than its forebears . Will this generation be better educated than previous generations ? It will be a while yet until that question can be answered , but it will definitely be interesting to see how they exploit this ultra-simplified access to knowledge .
They wear their creativity as a standard
A more novel illustration of the results of this early access to knowledge is a tenfold increase in creativity . Previous generations were mostly confined to the role of spectator , but Alphas can become content creators with just a few clicks . Applications such as TikTok offer free rein to their creativity ; self-taught , curious , and inclined to self-expression , this emerging generation promises to shake up all sorts of social codes , at home and at work . It ' s up to us to keep up !
More technology also means more access to the wider world . Increased exposure to multiple ways of living means that Alphas have higher levels of emotional intelligence than their elders . This leads them , knowingly or unknowingly , to shift limits and break down barriers : this generation finds richness in diversity , considers inclusiveness a necessity , and regards progress on gender issues as profoundly positive . We ’ d all do well to emulate their open-mindedness .
Above all , this is a generation shaped by the crucial issues of our time
Despite its youth , this generation is already aware of – and anxious about – the complex legacy it has been bequeathed : the decline of human rights , the fragility of our economic models , the survival of the planet ... To tackle these as-yet-unanswered questions , Generation Alpha will have to be even more pragmatic than Generation Z . In the spirit of the movements spear-headed by their forebears – Greta Thunberg , Manu Gaspar , Karin Watson Ferrer or Jazz Jennings – their focus will be on finding direct solutions , while continuing to put pressure on the private and public sectors to bring about profound changes in mentality and shift the broader agenda .
If , in due course , Generation Alpha gently shakes us up , challenging our comfortable habits , let ' s make an effort not to react harshly . It ’ s important that we try to understand their perspective : we have done this generation no favours – we ’ ve treated this planet as if there were ten to spare . Therefore , his generation deserves our respect : sooner or later , they will have to lift the heavy burden of fighting the battles – and they will need all their resources to do so .
